"Walletopia" the Youtube channel dedicated to exploring and reviewing wallets from around the world did a review of the new NarwhalCo Eco Fold wallet. Take a few minutes to watch it!
Let’s look at the packaging the NarwhalCo wallet came in. We can tell right away what the design of the fabric is. Since this is fabric only wallet company, it’s great to see what the design of the wallet you’re after.
Right now, their business is focused on using recycled material to make all their wallet product. And for everything else, that it’s fully recyclable.
Called the “Eco Fold”, this is an example of a new product line where they're taking recycled material, manufactured in long runs and creating wallets out of it.
From a quality perspective it feels really solid, it's all fabric based uses recycled materials with cotton based liner used on the inside. From customers reports, owners typically see this wall last for over 6 years or longer despite it being fabric.
The price is $19.99, that's really good actually. Not because fabric is less expensive, because you can find cheap leather too. The value is due to the quality of fabric used and the way of it’s manufacturing.
As you can see from the card and cash insertion test, it has a lot of capacity for how simple this wallet is constructed. It can handle 12 + cards, with up to 3 in each slot. You can put more in the inner slots where we choose to put cash, which can handle 6+ slips of cash. And so, as a card wallet it has tremendous capacity. Good reasons include the design and the fabric used.
(if you want to see all the features and how many cards and cash it can hold, please watch the video below)
From a usability perspective, it’s very durable, the fabric is used in commercial application and for example this particular design has a double rub test of over 100,000. It's an industry standard used to determine durability of fabric which makes this wallet very durable.
The fabric makes it easy to use because of its flexibility and it's very easy to pull cards from it. And with this 2-up, 2-down design that they have here, we don’t really concerns about cards falling out, nothing has been reported in our experience showing that it’s an issue.
The wallet measures 4 inches by 3 inches by half an inch.
Our perception is very good. It’s a handmade, vegan, eco-friendly, very lightweight wallet. The company started manufacturing wallets made from recycled vintage polyester ties, the old ones from the 1970s that were about 5 inches wide, and they still do today, those are all one-of-a-kind wallets and are fun to look through on their website. The Eco Folds are longer run wallets of the same design but they use recycled fabric. And these are certainly different from leather and the uniqueness makes this attractive for those seeking something off the beaten path.
The company has been in business for over 10 years, they've been doing this for quite a while. And they sell other popular products like wallet pens and other versions of recycled wallet.
Let's get into the ratings. For quality rating we’re giving it a 4, for pricing a 4, features a 3, usability a 3 and perception a 4 because they're going after a different market and are doing good for the world.
That gives us a final score of 3.7 out of five or 37 out of 50. Thanks for reading!
